A retired librarian with Elbert Ivey Library, she was a charter member of the Literary Book Club.
A member of the Hickory Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, she was an active area Girl Scout Leader.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jason E. Buff, who died in 1964.
Survivors include a son Paul K. Buff of Whittier; two daughters, Mrs James (Nan) Moss and Mrs. James (Helen) Pitts of Hickory, NC, five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
The funeral was conducted at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, where she was a member and also a member of the Lutheran Church Women.
