NHRA Drag racer. Katlitta was a member of the famous Kalitta drag racing family. His father was driver and crew chief Connie Kalitta and his cousin Doug was his teammate. In a career that spanned over two decades Kalitta scored seventeen career victories in Top Fuel racing and one in Funny Car. In both 1994 and 1995 he was the season champion in Top Fuel racing. During the 1994 season he became the first Top Fuel driver to win four consecutive events. After the 1997 season he briefly retired before making a short return to racing in 1999. He made a full return in 2003 to Top Fuel racing and switched to Funny Cars in 2006. He was never able to return to his top form and he finished thirteenth in points after the 2006 season. Kalitta was killed attempting to qualify for the Lucas Oil NHRA Supernational event at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park.
