LACON, IL - Evelyn V. Okerberg, 94, formerly of rural Hopewell Township, Marshall County, died at 9 p.m. Thursday, June 12, 2008, at Heartland Health Care Center in Henry, IL.

She was born July 7, 1913, in Hopewell Township to the late John and Grace Glunz Antrim. She married George E. Okerberg on Feb. 9, 1932, in Ottawa, Ill. George preceded her in death Sept. 7, 2003.

She is survived by one daughter, Ruth (Warren) Chamberlain of Varna; and one grandson, Myron D. Chamberlain of rural Lacon.

She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Pam Chamberlain; one brother, Robert Antrim; and one sister, Nellie Armbruster.

Evelyn farmed with her husband, George, in Hopewell Township for 75 years. She also was a homemaker and excellent cook and was well known for her baking skills, especially her cakes.

She was a member of the Lutheran Women's Association.

She was a founding member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Lacon, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 16, 2008, with the Rev. Wendy Popp officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service also at the church. Interment will follow in the Lacon Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to her church or L-S 52.
