Son of Aaron and Elizabeth (Morgan) Hale.

Anthony Hale was born in Gloucestershire, England, Sept 12, 1833. He came to America with his parents in 1851 and settled in New York. He was married to Jane Crouch in 1860 at Saratoga Springs, N.Y. Came to Cook county, Ill., the same year. He moved to Story county, Iowa in 1871 and located on the farm now owned by A. H. Kelderhouse. He lived there until 1891, when he sold his farm and moved to Nevada, Iowa. Later he moved to Webster City, where he resided until five years ago, when he moved to Blairsburg. There he died Feb. 3, 1913.
He is survived by his wife and three children: Howard Hale of Blairsburg, Mrs. Alice Day of Blairsburg, and Jas. E. Hale of Collins.
The funeral was held at Blairsburg congregational church Tuesday. Sermon was preached by the pastor, Rev. Metcalf. Beautiful flowers were sent by relatives and friends from a distance. A sheaf of wheat was contributed by the Ladies Aid Society of the Blairsburg church.
The interment was at the Blairsburg cemetery, the pall bearers being C. M. McNee, E. Fowler, C. P. Kieth, John Ferrill, J. C. Merriman, and Bert Allen.
The deceased, who lived many years in Story county, was well known by the older residents of Collins township and the county at large. He was one of the sturdy pioneers who helped to make Collins township stand at the top in productive wealth and general progress. He was honored by being elected to a county office and was one of the county's leading citizens. He held the office of county supervisor for six years.
The bereaved family have the sympathy of many friends.
