Margaret Sarah Octavia Thomason, as her name was listed in one source (I went by the tombstone for the heading of this memorial), was the fourth of nine children born to John Barnett Thomason (1834-1896), a Confederate soldier, and his wife Mary Ann Sims (1835-1904), who are buried at Ramah Presbyterian Church, Huntersville, NC.

Octavia M. Thomason married Columbus Williamson Ritch (1853-1921, a son of Elijah Ritch and Elizabeth Morris), and they had at least two children: Charles Edgar Ritch (born 1888) and Mary E. Ritch (born circa 1894). After Octavia's death, C. W. Ritch married Woodley F. Bell (1868-1959), my great grandmother's sister.
