SMITHFIELD – Mrs. Ruth Collins Cassell of 1314 Magruder Road died Monday in Riverside Hospital. She was a native of Jenkins, Ky., and had retired from the federal government. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church. Survivors include her husband, Charles K. Cassell; a son, John A. Day of Clarksville, Md., a sister, Mrs. Marguerite C. DeReuter of Arlington; a brother, John W. C. Collins of Orlando, Fla.; and three grandchildren. A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday at St. Luke's Memorial Park by the Rev. Macon B. Walton. Memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or the Isle of Wight Volunteer Rescue Squad. Colonial Funeral Home is in charge.
