"Mrs Gladys Rassmussen (sic) [Rasmussen] Nichols, 72, of Chattanooga, Tenn, formerly of Spartansburg, died yesterday morning following a long illness. She was born Dec 16, 1891, in Sparta Township, the daughter of Frank and Ida Belle Harrington Firth. She is survived by two daughters, Dorothy Knectel (sic) [Knegtel] of Brazil and Phyllis Nichols Baker of Chattanooga, Tenn; six grandchildren; several great grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs Lillian Farrar of Keene, NH, Mrs Dorothy Spade of Chicago, Ill, and Mrs Jane Gragg of Detroit, Mich; two brothers, Harry Firth of Spartansburg, RD 1, and Frank Firth, Jr, of Spartansburg. A son, Vincent Rasmussen and two sisters died previously. Friends may attend the funeral service at 2 pm Thursday at the H Richard Hays Funeral Home in Spartansburg. Rev Robert Richardson, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Spartansburg, will officiate. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Spartansburg."
