"Neil Scouten, 48, of Spartansburg, RD 1, died unexpectedly last night after being stricken at the McGinnis Steel plant in Corry where he was employed. He was born March 25, 1920, a son of Arthur and Hazel Blakeslee Scouten. On Aug 19, 1941, he married Bonita Weatherbee (sic) [Wetherbee]. He is survived by his wife; two sons - Gilbert Scouten of Columbus, RD 1, and Gordon Scouten of Los Angeles, Calif; two grandchildren; his parents, Mr and Mrs Arthur Scouten of Spartansburg, RD 2; two brothers, Guy Scouten and Lawrence Scouten of Spartansburg; a sister, Mrs Stanley (Ruth) Lewin of Sanborn, NY. Friends may call at the H Richard Hays Funeral Home at Spartansburg...and attend the funeral service there Friday at 2 pm with Rev J B Sheffer, pastor of the Centerville Free Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery at Spartansburg."
