GALENA, Kan. — Bertha May Reed, 87, Galena, died at 9:30 p.m. Thursday at a local nursing home after a long illness.

Mrs. Reed was born Oct. 3, 1907, in Indian Territory, Okla. She lived in Galena most of her life. She was a seamstress at Miller’s Shirt Factory at Joplin, Mo., for 29 years. She retired in 1972. She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Galena, and the Galena Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

She married Harold C. Bullard in January 1929 at Joplin. He died Oct. 1, 1966.
She married Melvin Reed in 1972 at Bentonville, Ark. He survives.

Additional survivors include two sons, Perry Bullard, Manitou Springs, Colo., and Pat Bullard, Galena; a daughter, Ola Shepherd, Galena route 2; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena. Milton Perry, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Galena.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
