Otto passed away at a hospital in Hutchinson. He was the son of Rev. Henry and Anna (Knoll) Gehrt. He graduated from Topeka High School in 1946 and served in the US Army for two years. He married Nyla Lietz on June 23, 1954, in McFarland.
Survivors include his wife, his sons, Alan Gehrt and Philip Gehrt, two grandchildren, and his brother, Theodore Gert. Funeral services were held at Trinity Lutheran Church in McFarland. Burial followed in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
