Marie H. Wagner Linehan, 94, Genesee

May 25, 2008, marked the passing of longtime Genesee resident Marie Wagner Linehan. Marie was born April 2, 1914, in Uniontown, to Nick Wagner and Lucy Caltaux Wagner. She attended Country School and graduated from Genesee High School in 1932. Marie boarded at the Colton Academy for many years.
Marie and Donald J. Linehan were married Jan. 5, 1938, in Genesee. They honeymooned at the Roosevelt Hotel in Seattle, coming and going on a Ford Tri-motor airplane. Marie and Don operated the Linehan family farm together until they retired and moved into town in 1975. Marie and Don traveled extensively together around the world.
Marie was a generous contributor of time and creativity to her community. She was a member of the St. Mary's Altar Society, a lifetime member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Cataldo No. 158, Happy Valley Club and Bluebird Club. She served on the Latah County Fair Board, was a 4-H leader for many years and a member of the Genesee Quilters. Marie and Don were grand marshals in the Genesee Community Days parade along with longtime neighbors and good friends, Wilson and Mary Louise Esser, and Alfred and Angie Hasfurther.
Marie was known for her kindness, seamstress abilities, pickling prowess, cooking skills and homemade root beer.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Donald J. Linehan; her daughter, Joan Linehan Jurgensen; infant sons, Larry and Garry; her sisters, Viola Wagner, Leona Wagner Becker, Martha Wagner Weber; and brothers, Emil (Pete) Wagner and Theodore (Ted) Wagner.
Marie will be missed by her surviving family members: son, Gregory Linehan and wife Heidi; grandchildren, Karen Jurgensen and husband Peter Bonnell, Kirsten Jurgensen and husband Dan Wilcock, Solara Linehan, Emma Linehan and Cpl. Thomas Linehan; and great-grandchildren, Natashya Wilcock and Aage Bonnell.
A funeral Mass in celebration of Marie's life will be at 9 a.m. Monday, June 2, at St. Mary's Catholic Parish in Genesee. A coffee reception at the parish center will follow.
