Killed in a robbery by associates of Clyde Barrow. Clyde knew the Bucher's son and was known by sight to the family, when the idea surfaced to rob the safe in Mr. Bucher's store, Clyde volunteered to act as driver. The two men that would enter the store on a ruse would be Ted Rogers and an associate of Ralph Fults known anly as "Johnny." Mr Bucher answered a knock on his door, late one night, and the two men asked to buy some guitar strings. They offered a $10 bill, knowing that Bucher would have to open the safe for change. Unknown to them though Mr Bucher also kept a pistol in the safe. When he reached for it he was shot through the heart and died instantly.
