"James W. WOODS, 53, a guard at the state penitentiary in Jefferson City, MO. was killed March 29, 1906. He was born near Holliday, Monroe County, MO., in 1853. In 1875 he was married to Miss Anabel CUMLEY, daughter of Hiram CUMLEY, of Monroe county. He had a long and successful career as a police officer. He leaves a wife, mother and four boys, Edward WOODS, Arthur WOODS, Ray WOODS, and Harve WOODS. Funeral at C. P. church and interment in Oakwood cemetery with Woodmen taking charge of the services."
