Howard "Hub" Wabeke, celebrated his 85th birthday entering glory after a courageous battle with cancer Friday, October 12, 2007. Howard was a barber in Hudsonville for over 25 years.
Beloved husband of almost 62 years, he is survived by his wife, Cornelia (Connie Van Dyke) Wabeke of Hudsonville; and his three children. He will be sadly missed by his six grandchildren; his great-granddaughter; his brother; three sisters; his two sisters-in-law; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Christine Wabeke; his brothers, Justin Wabeke, Gordon Wabeke, Marvin Wabeke, Clifford Wabeke; his sister, Ruth Elzinga.
Funeral and committal services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Hillcrest Christian Reformed Church where he and his wife are charter members, with Rev. Brian Bosscher and Rev. Henry Van Wyk officiating.
Interment Georgetown Township.
Friends may meet with the family at the VanderLaan Funeral Home Monday 5 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday, from 12 p.m. until the time of the funeral.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hudsonville Christian School or Unity Christian High School.
