Obituary
DEATH OF MRS. MARIA TROUT.
Passes Away at Ripe Old Age - Came from a Long Lived Family.
Mrs. Maria Trout, one of the oldest and best-known residents of Bart township, died on Friday last at the residence of her son, Frank M. Trout, near Georgetown, aged ninety-three years. The deceased was the eldest daughter of the late Jacob Eckman, and was born near Puseyville, December 8, 1810, spending her entire life in Lancaster county. In 1844 she was married to George Trout, of Bart, who died ten years ago. To this union were born two children, Frank M., surveyor, of Bart, and Mary, wife of Dr. B. F. Rodgers, U. S. N., who died several years ago. Her surviving brothers and sisters are David Eckman, of Kansas; Miller, of Lancaster; Jacob, of Philadelphia; Mrs. Susan Brabson and Mrs. Elizabeth Kirkwood, both of Ohio. She belonged to a long-lived family, her mother living to be 92 years of age and her brothers and sisters are all past their eightieth year. A few weeks ago another sister, Mrs. Catharine Griest, of this city, died in her 87th year, and there is no doubt that brooding over her sister's death hastened her demise, as she was in her usual health up to that time, seldom being sick and with
remarkable strength and vitality. She enjoyed reading and had not worn glasses for more than six years. For many years she has been a member of the Reformed Mennonite Church. The funeral was held on Monday, with interment at Longenecker's Meeting House.
