On the internet, I found a little biography that her son, Iverson wrote. I hope he doesn't mind me including it here: "My mother was a very good mother, always putting her children's needs ahead of her own. She had twelve children, of which one died as a young baby. Some of the older brothers and sisters helped with the younger ones. I can remember my mother, even when I was quite young, as having had real bad vericose veins and many times having to go to the hospital for several days to have them taken care of. Even though she should have been off her legs, she would be right back at taking care of us kids when she got back home. Iverson Whiteman."

Added note (12-30-2013): Dorothy was my grandmother. She was an amazing bread-maker! Anytime she knew company was coming, she'd cruise into baking mode. As soon as you pulled into her driveway, you could smell the homemade bread and her famous cinnamon rolls! From her children, she had over 60 grandchildren. I'm blessed to be named after her! -Dora Marie Elsey Gravel
