Daughter of Harley & Lois (Heitz) Frankenfield.
Married to Thomas Whitson on 6-28-1964 at Charles City, IA.
Up until her death, she was serving on the boards of Lauritzen Gardens, Council Bluffs Senior Center, and Broadway United Methodist Church. She has been honored as queen of the Renaissance Faire, as a recipient of the Harry C. Voss award for volunteerism, and as a winner of a Mercy Heritage Award. At the time of her death, Kathy was a member of PEO Chapter LR, Garden Club, Jennie Edmundson Hospital Auxiliary, and Broadway United Methodist Church. She has also been a member of the Steering Committee of Bayliss Park, Council Bluffs Service League, Ak-Sar-Ben Friendship Circle, and ISU Alumni Association. Kathy held co-chair positions for the Iowa Heritage Award Dinner in 2004, and the fund drive for the SW Iowa Arts Center. A 4-H leader for eight years, Kathy was involved in the Iowa State 4-H Foundation and her family was once selected as the West Pottawattamie Outstanding 4-H Family.
