Rev. John White was the son of John J. and Catherine (Manice) White. He graduated from St. Thomas Seminary, Bloomfield in 1949 and St. Bernard's Seminary, Rochester, NY in 1955. On June 4, 1955 he was one of the first three priests to be ordained in the Diocese of Norwich.
