Joseph A. ("Chippy") Sierputowski , 65, of 615 Sumner Ave., a city custodian, died Thursday in Baystate Medical Center. He was previously an International Business Machines Corp. messenger for Kaman Aerospace Corp. in Bloomfield, Conn. Born in Tolland, Conn., he lived here for 35 years. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, and received a Korean Service Medal. He was a member of the Forest Park Post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and was the post commander in 1976-77. He was a longtime local musician, and played in several area bands, including Chippy Joe's Merry Notes Orchestra, a polka group. He leaves a son, Joseph J. of Springfield; two daughters Mary Kostorizos of East Longmeadow, and Jean Beaudoin of Ludlow; six sisters Alice Murphy and Cecelia Humphrey of Manchester, Conn., Rose Ravetto and Josephine Blodgett of Stafford, Conn., Florence Boucher of Vernon, Conn., and Martha Jones of Rockville, Conn.; three granddaughters. The funeral service will be on Monday morning at Byron's City Burial & Cremation Service and St. Paul's Church, with the burial at the convenience of the family. The calling hours are scheduled Sunday afternoon, and memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 53 Capital Drive, West Springfield, 01089.
