DOUGLAS W. BOUTWELL, born August 3, 1921 to Theodore and Mary Boutwell in Cuero, TX, passed away July 1, 2008 in Houston, TX. Mr. Boutwell always considered himself a Houstonian, and enjoyed seeing the city evolve from a small town into what it is today. Doug was a veteran of WWII, retired from the City of Houston, and was a deacon at Lazybrook Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Lion's Club for many years. Mr. Boutwell was preceded in death by his parents, 10 siblings, and his son, LeRoy Bates, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Maurine Boutwell; daughters, Pam Herron and husband, Fred, Becky Hyde and husband, Bob, and Trudy Cote and husband, Jerry; grandchildren, Lori Ritchey and husband, Kevin, Lisa Minkert and husband, John, Chris Cote and wife, Tiffany, Kim Cote, Kristin Herron, and Jen Milchanowski; great-grandchildren, Haley, Keri, Stephen Douglas, Nick, and Lillian (coming in August!) and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members. His enthusiasm for life leaves us all with many wonderful memories. He was the best son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather anyone could ask for. His quick wit and sense of humor will be reflected upon by his many friends and relatives for years to come. The family wishes to express special thanks to his caregivers, Thomas Nyingo and Peter Npeto, who aided Doug over the last few months. Their care comforted our entire family and will always be remembered. Special thanks also to pastor Dr. John Neesly, Dr. A. J. Haddock, and Wray and Pat Page for their continued support. The family also wishes to thank Doris Turner, Sterlann Daniels, Gwen Matthews, and all the staff at Hearthstone Assisted Living Center for their tender care. The family received friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at Heights Funeral Home. The funeral service were held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 3, 2008 at Lazybrook Baptist Church, 1822 West 18th St., Houston, TX 77008, with Dr. John Neesley officiating.
