Survivors: daughters, Ruth Maddox of Augusta, Leona Jordan of Burden, Janice McGowan of Enid, Okla., Louise Stevenson of Rose Hill; sister, Lela Moore of Sedan; 17 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; seven great-great- grandchildren. Memorial has been established with Tisdale United Methodist Church. Miles Funeral Service.

Grace Eastman, 84, a resident of Cumbernauld Village in Winfield, died Aug 29, 1993, at William Newton Memorial Hospital.
Born Sept 11, 1908, at Burden, she was the daughter of James William and Nellie(Boyd) Gardner. She moved to Missouri with her family as a young child and moved back to Burden with them several years later. She attended school in both Missouri and Burden.
On Nov 12, 1925, she married John Henry Eastman in Winfield, and they made their first home near Wilmot. The Eastmans lived in Winfield before moving to a farm northeast of Winfield where they farmed for many years.
Eastman was employed as a cook at William Newton Memorial Hospital during the 1950's and later worked as an alterations seamstress at Pettit's cleaners before retiring in 1970.
Eastman was a member of Tisdale United Methodist Church and had served on the Cowley County Election Board for many years. She had also a 4-H leader.
Her husband preceded her in death in 1976.
Survivors include four daughters, Ruth Maddox of Augusta, Leona G Jordan of Burden, Janice B McGowan of Enid, Okla, and Louise A Stevenson of Rose Hill; a sister Lela Gardner Moore , of Sedan, 17 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10:30 am Thursday at Miles Funeral Home.
