Mabel Marie Kelly, 97, former Wilmot correspondent for the Winfield Daily Courier, died Oct 19, 2004, at Winfield Rest Haven.
Services will be 2 pm Friday at Miles Funeral Service . Burial will be in Wilmot cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home this evening from 5 to 9.
A memorial has been established with the Evangelical Free Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
Kelly was born Nov 28, 1906, in rural Wilmot, to Maggie (Bowen) and Thomas R Eastman. She was raised in the Wilmot community and attended school at the Queen Village District 19 one-room schoolhouse and later Wilmot district 149.
On Nov 28, 1922, she married Harvey Kelly. They spend most of the marriage on their farm. Her husband died Oct 27, 1954. She moved to Winfield in 1988.
Kelly was a member of the Wilmot Christian Church and Sunday school and a charter member of the Wilmot ladies' Bible study group which began nearly 50 years ago. After moving to Winfield, she attended the Evangelical Free Church.
She was the Wilmot news correspondent for the Courier for nearly 30 years.
Survivors include three nieces, Rosalie Spencer, Wichita, Wanda Young, Bellevue, Wash, and Susan McKendrick, Fort Oxford, Ore; and two nephews, Thomas B Eastman, Feradale, Calif, and Dale Eastman , Winfield.
