Herbert Ables, 64, of Newbern, died Wednesday, June 4, 2003 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
He was a farmer.
Graveside services were at 9:30 a.m. today in Dyersburg City Cemetery with the Rev. John Morris officiating. J.W. Curry & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Ables of Newbern; a daughter, Polly Chamberlain of Newbern; tthree sons, Tim Burns of Finley and Larry Ables and Robert Ables, both of Tulsa, Okla.; two sisters, Claira Mae Sawyers of Friendship and Dorothy Harrsion of Kentucky; two brothers, Homer Ables of Indiana and Larry Ables of Finley; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Clara Mae Ables Sawyer, 81, of Friendship, died Sunday, June 22, 2008 at her residence.
She was a homemaker.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Curry Funeral Home with Bro. John Kilzer officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg.
The family will receive visitors at 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Survivors include two daughters, Sherrie Daniel of Munford and Wanda Garrett of Friendship; a son, Tommy Sawyer of Friendship; two brothers, Larry Ables of Finley and Homer Ables of Lake Station, Ind.; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilmer Holland "Doc" Sawyer; her parents, Frank and Vinnie Davis Ables; three sisters, Ethelene Whitlow, Christine Harrison and Dorothy Harrison; seven brothers, William Ables, Roger Ables, Lenord Ables, Herbert Ables, Harvey Ables, Robert Ables and Frank Jr. Ables; and a grandson, Jody Balentine.
Pallbearers will be Phillip Daniel, Danny Daniel, Keith Daniel, Shane Ellington, Jason Balentine and Joey Balentine.
