Charles August Christiansen, Sr.

October 31, 1932 – June 23, 2008

Charles August Christiansen, Sr. died in Riverside Regional Medical Center, Newport News, VA of cancer on June 23, 2008.

Charles was born October 31, 1932 in Giddings, Texas. Giddings, TX was his home until the early 1950's during which time he attended Giddings High School. After leaving Giddings, Charles Christiansen joined the U.S. Army and served a tour of duty in Korea. He retired from C&P Telephone Company of Virginia after devoting over 30 years of service. He was active in C.W.A., the Telephone Pioneers of America and The American Legion. As an avid golfer, Charles Christiansen was an active member of the Williamsburg Country Club in Williamsburg, VA for over 40 years.

He was predeceased by his parents Gustav Edward Christiansen and Clara (Liebscher) Christiansen of Giddings, TX, his brother James Richard Christiansen of Waller, TX, brother Marvin Lloyd Christiansen of Brenham, TX. and brother-in-law Roy Kruemcke of Giddings, TX.

He is survived by his wife Edna Crostic Christiansen of Newport News, VA; daughter Beverly Hensley; daughter Clara Christiansen Fry and husband Charles of Yorktown, VA; son Charles August Christiansen, Jr. and wife Lynn of Conroe, TX; step daughters Stacey Bender of Richmond, VA and Carrie Keaton of Chesapeake, VA; sister Vernell Christiansen Kruemcke of Giddings, TX; sister-in-law Florence Christiansen of Houston, TX; sister-in-law Rita Pierce Christiansen of Brenham, TX; cousin Carol Stayton of Cat Springs, TX; grandchildren Christopher Thomas Fry, Casey Thomas Fry, Reilly August Christiansen, Raquel Virginia Christiansen; step grandchildren Mark Bender, Jessica Bender, Leslie Wicks and Richard Bender; nieces and nephews James Christiansen Jr. Brenda Kruemcke, Kathy Kruemcke Roberts, Roy Kruemcke Jr., and Vincent Kruemcke.

Family will receive visitors at the Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings, TX from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, June 28th. Graveside services will be Sunday, June 29th at 11 a.m. in the Giddings City Cemetery, Giddings, TX.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or charity of your choice.
