Oliver L. Arnold, 72, of 1018 Chestnut was found dead in his car in the alleyway behind his home Wednesday by a neighbor, Rozella Brown.

Arnold was dead on arrival of Medic I at 3:12 p.m. An autopsy was performed and cause of death was an apparent heart attack according to Dr. Walter Able, deputy county coroner.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hathaway-Myers funeral home by the Rev. Orville Turner. Burial will be at Garland Brook cemetery. Persons may call at the funeral home from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday and until time for services Saturday.

Arnold was born June 4, 1902, in Humphreys county, Tenn., to David and Jane Gwin Arnold. His wife, Etha F. Lewis, died Feb. 23, 1969. He retired in 1968 from Vernco corporation after 17 years employment.

Surviving are two sons, Bill Arnold of Fort Wayne and Edward Arnold of North Vernon; a daughter, Viola Stroup of Muncie; a sister, Pearl Jones of 2919 East 10th; and several grand children and great-granchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, two sons, two brothers and a sister.
