Mrs. Olivia Cochran Thompson, 81, long-time farmer and resident of the Zion Community, died Saturday, March 8, 2008 at her resident on Trotwood Avenue.
Graveside services will be conducted Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Polk Memorial Gardens with Rev. Arch Warren officiating. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols.

The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Maury Frierson Cochran, Sr. and Lottie Sharp Cochran and a 1944 graduate of Columbia Central High School.
As a young lady, Mrs. Thompson was a member of First Presbyterian Church, but was a member and active in the affairs of Zion Presbyterian Church for many years. She sang in the choir and was active in the Women of the Church. A member of the Board of Trustees of Zion Cemetery Association, she personally tended to the grounds of the churchyard and cemetery for many years.
She was a member of the Trotwood Garden Club for forty years and active in the Maury Regional Hospital Auxiliary and Maury County Rose Society.
She was married November 27, 1945 to Clyde Kindell Thompson, Sr. with whom she farmed in the Zion Community until his death April 14, 1991.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Gloria Jean and Wallace Rich of the Zion Community; a son, Clyde K. "Kenny" Thompson, Jr. of Columbia; grandchildren, Chad (Amy) Rich, Albert (Amy) Rich, and Kaye Thompson Ingrum, all of Columbia; great-grandchildren, Megan Rich, Chandler Rich, Justin McKennon, and Tabitha Ingrum.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Maury F. Cochran, Jr.
Active pallbearers are Wayne Thompson, J. H. Dodson, Danny Dodson, Jackie Thompson, Jimmy Thompson, and David Kincaid.
Honorary pallbearers include member of Trotwood Garden Club, Maury Regional Hospital Auxiliary, Elders and Deacons of Zion Presbyterian Church.
