Linda was born in Iowa, her full given name was Carolina Sophia Maria Wilhelmina Malinda. She moved as a girl with her parents to Frederic Wisconsin 1903. They lived in St. Paul for a time 1923-1930's, later returning to Frederic. At the age of 13 she was stricken with polio and confined to a wheel chair the rest of her life, without one complaint. She never married.
