Elizabeth Xavier Tait was born in India she came from Potuguese heritage. She was teaching school when she met William Tait. Over the next couple years William courted her and taught her the gospel. She was baptized in India. William and their son John went to America ahead of her w/Elder Hugh Finley coming by way of San Francisco then overland to Salt Lake. Elizabeth had a baby girl and then she traveled to America over the Atlantic then by train to Iowa. Their baby girl died. Elizabeth traveled to Zion with the famed Willie Handcart Company. William was with the rescuers. What a bittersweet reunion. They settled in Southern Utah in the Cedar City area for the rest of their lives. They raised a wonderful family in the gospel. The sacrifices they made are still appreciated today by their desendants.If anyone has pictures ao info would love to share.
