Thomas Franklin Armstrong, 80 years old, who served as a justice of the peace over a period of 30 years in Joplin, died at 6 o'clock Sunday night at his home, 2224 Pearl avenue.
He was born April 20, 1869 in Moweaqua, Ill. He had been a resident of Joplin for 77 years and served on the Joplin police force from about 1904 to 1909. Mrs. Armstrong died January 31, 1947.
Surviving are two sons, Lester Lee Armstrong, of Houston, Tex., and Roy William Armstrong, 2214 Pearl avenue; a brother, 2304 Tyler avenue; four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Parker-Hunsaker chapel with the Rev. Edwin G. Michael officiating.
Burial will be in the Osborn Memorial cemetery. the body will lie in state at the chapel until the funeral hour.
Pallbearers will be Norman Millet, Virgil Johnson, Robert Bagby, Andrew Smith, Robert Isaacse and Fred Bigley.
