Daniel Victor Comer, 77, of 228 South Van Rensselaer Street, died in Jasper County Hospital, Monday. He had been in ill health two years.

Born in Foresman, he spent most of his life at Rensselaer. He attended Jasper County schools and Valparaiso College. Mr. Comer taught in Jasper County schools several years and was later employed by the Murray Department Store here. He was married to Ellen Guin in 1923.

Mr. Comer was a member of Rensselaer Methodist Church, Prairie Masonic Lodge 125, I00F Iroquois Lodge 143, and Modern Woodmen.

Surviving with the widow, are two daughters, Mrs. Iris Seitz of Beaver, Pennsylvania, and Mrs. Alice Bachman of Chesterton; two sons, Joe of Gary, Indiana, and Wayne V. of Cuthbert, Georgia; three sisters, Mrs. Joseph Norman of Rensselaer, Mrs. Clara Sheets of Oak Park, Illinois, and Mrs. Madelyn Raleigh of Mesa, Arizona, and a brother, John Comer of Fair Oaks. [Daniel had ten grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren that survived him.]
