CASSIUS HENDERSON was born in Wyoming County, N. Y., in 1845; son of William Henderson and Cecelia (Evans) Henderson. His parents died when he was 7 years old, and he was raised by his uncle, H. M. Henderson, of Flint, Mich. In Aug 1862, he enlisted in the 23rd Michigan Infantry; Company K (Civil War) and was in the engagement of Henry Station. He 'mustered out' in 1863.

In 1873, Cash moved to Kansas and commenced selling goods for the firm of M. Kohn & Co.(Wichita). In 1889, he is listed as 'proprietor of the New York Store, (corner of Market and English)'. In July, he married Anna Gribi. Cash and Anna's children are Anita (1890), Barbara (1893) and Cash Jr. (1896). They lived at 815 S. Emporia.
