In this city, April 27th, John J. Maxwell died in the 64th year of his age. The funeral was held from his late residence, 66 Elizabeth St. Mr. Maxwell was well known outside of Bordentown, having been a conductor on the Camden and Amboy railroad for about 20 years. He was born at Doylestown, PA and came to this city in the year 1850. He married a sister of the late James Trout and took charge of the Trout Hotel at the foot of Farnsworth Ave. He was elected to the lower House of the Legislature in 1865, and re-elected year after year until he had served four full terms.
