Harley J. Ayers, 75, of Clifford, died at 8:21 p.m. Sunday at Columbus Convalescent Center following an illness of several months.
He was a retired civil service employee at Bakalar Air Base.
Funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Reed and Jewell Funeral Home. Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 o'clock tonight. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Ayers was born Feb. 5, 1911, in Nashville, the son of Sandy and Rosie Hatton Ayers. He married Mable Irene Howard in 1932, and she died May 8, 1969.
Survivors include two sons, Harold Ayers of Taylorsville and James Ayers of Clifford; four daughters, Doris Park of Trafalgar route 1, Edna Mullis of 2111 McKinley, Martha Menges of Nashville and Linda Holley of 9661 E. St. Joe; a brother, Ernest F. Ayers of 686 Clifty; 25 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
