Dorothy Elizabeth McCormick was born Feb. 3, 1921 to John Arthur and Alma Ethel (Geer) Stickler in Lamar, Colo. She married Walter Wesley McCormick on May 26, 1940. To this union were born four children.

She died Tue, May 6, 2008 at the age of 87 in Pueblo, Colo.
She spent most of her life in the San Luis Valley, moving to Florence in 1982. She was a 1940 graduate of Rio Grande County High School in Monte Vista, Colo. She was the manager of the Rio Grande Motorway Credit Union in Alamosa for several years before her retirement.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one great-grandson, Christopher Ziemer, her parents, four sisters Margie Downs, Millie Smith, Patty Hamm and Shirley Clutter, and one brother Donald Stickler. She is survived by grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, as well as by one brother-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.

She also leaves behind many friends. She loved family, life and people. The lessons she taught her family about love will carry on for generations. She will be missed by many.

Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 1435 Elm in Canon City, Colo. on Fri, May 9, 2008 at 11 am with Bishop Bruce Tedrow officiating. Graveside services and burial will be held at the Monte Vista Cemetery on Saturday, May 10, 2008 at 3 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the local chapter of The Federation For The Blind.
