Glen Nelson, age 93 passed away Saturday May 10, 2008 at Hospice of Dayton. He resided at Englewood Manor in Englewood, OH for the past two months with his loving and devoted second wife Barbara Eyler-Nelson who will miss him greatly. He was born in Moline, IL in 1914. He moved to Dayton, OH where he spent many years as a Boy Scout in Crown Point (Drexel), OH. He was a 1933 graduate of Roosevelt High School, Dayton, OH. He served as a Corporal in the Army during WWII in the Pacific Theatre with the Sixth Infantry Division. He met his future wife Ruth, when they were both in the wedding party of Glen's brother to Ruth's sister. They wed in 1945 and were married almost 58 years. He was a former member of Ridgewood Heights United Church of Christ; former co-owner with his brother of Nelson Bros. Florist in Trotwood,OH; and retiree of Ledex, Inc. of Vandalia, OH. He was a lifetime member of Madison Grange and current member of Trotwood United Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by parents, Oscar and Clara (Halvorsen) Nelson, brother Willard Nelson, wife Ruth (Smith) Nelson, and son Richard Otto Nelson. He is survived by wife Barbara Eyler-Nelson, daughters Susan Nelson, Fairborn, Sarah Nelson, Xenia and Carla Nelson, Kettering; two grandaughters, one sister-in-law, two nephews and four nieces. A celebration of Glen's life was held on Friday, May 16, 2008 at Roger's Funeral Home, Trotwood, OH.
