Julia Muhrer was the daughter of Henry and Wilhelmina Eppers (nee Han); was born in Germany, April 23, 1843,and died at the home of her son, Henry Applegate, six miles southwest of Kahoka, July 4, 1911 at 9:30 p.m.
In the year 1856 she came with her parents to this country, The deceased was married to A.J. Applegate in 1860 (61). To this union were born four Children, of whom three are still living. In 1885 (1886) she married George Muhrer, he having died in 1907. The following two sons and one daughter survive her and all attended the funeral: A.J. Applegate of Old Monroe, Mo. H.V. Applegate of Kahoka, Mo, and Mrs Lewis Conlee of Donnellson. Ia, and brother H.F. Eppers, of Montrose, Ia. Also thirteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren besides numerous friends remain to morn their loss.
The funeral took place Thursday at 2 o'clock, services being conducted at the home by Rev. W.F. Laidley. The body was laid to rest in the German Evangelical Cemetery (St Pauls).
She arrived in America on October 28th 1856 on board the German Bark Stella mastered by H.Wulf. She was 13 years old at the time and was traveling with her parents Heinrick and Wilhelmina (Han) Eppers and her brother Heinrick (Henry).
