MRS. J.R. GRIFFIN PASSES

Jane H. Semple daughter of Robert and Janette Semple was born near Quebec Canada December 21, 1840 she being the eldest of the family of six children all of whom have passed except one sister Mrs. William Jenkins now living with her son at Dalton WI.
Mrs. Griffin came with her parents to Wisconsin when a little girl settling near Kingston , Green Lake Co. WI. She was married to Rockwell (James) Griffin December 25, 1860. To this union were born seven children: Hattie dying in infancy, George of Rapid City South Dakota, Cyrus of the Town of Marcellon, Arly now Mrs. George Whittingham of Cambria, Cora now Mrs. Carroll Aldrich of Auburndale, Herbert of Waukon Iowa and Warren of Alma WI.
She passed away at the home of her daughter at Auburndale, Saturday August 30th at 6:00 p.m. at the advanced age of 83 yrs, 8mo, and 9 days. Mr Griffin died in January 1922. They were among the early settlers of the Town of Marcellon and spent most of there married life on the farm where they began life together. About 25 yrs ago they gave up the active duties of farm life and came to Pardeeville where they built themselves a nice home and where they spent many contented years. Both were active in Church work, and Mrs. Griffin was loved by all who knew her.
The remains were brought to Pardeeville, and funeral services were conducted Tuesday from the old home in Marcellon where the son Cyrus now lives, and later from the M.E. Church in this city of which Mrs. Griffin was a member. The remains were laid at rest in the local Cem. Rev. Starkweather had charge of the services.
Mr and Mrs. Carroll Aldrich of Auburndale, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Whittingham of Cambria and Herbert Griffin of Waukon Ia. were the relatives from away attending the services
