Arthur A. Bohr, age 93, of 308 W. Ramsdell Street, Marion, passed away peacefully at his home, following a short illness, on Saturday, October 13, 2007.

The former Arthur Arnold Bohr was born March 25, 1914 at Marion, WI., and was the son of the late Wencel and Marguerite (Maes) Bohr. Following graduation from Marion High School, where he was running back on the first Marion High School football team, Art attended Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI., for two years. He then served in the U.S. Army Air Force in the Pacific Ocean area for three years and eight months. Art was united in marriage to Agnes Schmidt on January 3, 1946 at Park Falls, WI. The couple raised five daughters, until Agnes passed away at a young age, on November 19, 1958. He was owner & operator of Marion Furniture Mfg. now known as Carver Wood Products. Art retired in 1986 after 47 years of ownership. On January 9, 1971, Art was united in marriage to Dolores Frost at Marion, WI. He was a member and past trustee of St. Mary Catholic Church, Marion,and was a devoted church organist most of his life. Other interests included serving as Marion Municipal Judge for 23 years, Past-Commander of the William Bertram American Legion Post #198, Marion, past-commander of William Leroy Barnett VFW Post #3880, Hawaii, and a member of the Marion Rotary Club, receiving the 1997 Paul Harris Fellowship award. Arts interests, include hunting, fishing, golfing, woodworking, and most of all, Music.

At the age of 13, Art played music at the local theater during silent movies, playing in Dance Bands from high school until the 1950's, he wrote the Marion City theme song, was a 1959 charter member of the Marion Minute Men Marching Band, participated in "Showtime" in the annual Shawano Wolf River Harmony Chorus Concert, and he provided music and entertainment at local nursing homes for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Dolores, 7 daughters, Peggy (Randy) Baldwin, Madison, WI., Monica (Dennis) Degeneffe, St. Paul, MN., Mary (Jerry) Mehlberg, Valdez, AK., and Teresa (Rusty) Schider, Pardeeville, WI., Laura Frost, Wausau, WI., Julie (Robert) Torborg, Shawano, WI. and Jane (Michael) Merciniak, Wausau, WI. There are 22 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. One half brother, Wencel "Chum" (Grace) Bohr, Shakopee, MN., and son-in-law, James Jueds, Marion, WI. Art was preceded in death by his first wife, Agnes, a daughter, Connie Jueds, brothers, James, Raymond, and infant twin brothers.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be held Thursday, October 18, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marion Fr. John Girotti will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Mary Parish Cemetery.
