Christine M. Bayless of Mansfield passed away May 11, 2005, after a two year battle with breast cancer. Christine was born July 17, 1920, to Chris and Meta (Lassen) Hansen on the Chism Ranch, east of Mansfield.

Christine attended the Peaceful Valley School through the 8th grade, and graduated from Mansfield High School in 1938. She married Robert M. (Bob) Bayless, her husband of 54 years, in 1946, and they made their home in Mansfield. Christine was a homemaker and assisted Bob with the family business. Her love for the community of Mansfield was reflected in her involvement.

She was a 50 year member of Harmony Chapter No. 56, Order of Eastern Star, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, and the Senior Citizen's Meal Coordinator for many years. She also helped in establishing the Mansfield Museum. She was a member of the United Protestant Church and was fondly known as the "Card Lady."

She is survived by sons, William (Linda) Bayless of Mansfield, John (Ginny) Bayless of Beaverton, OR; daughters, Lorraine (Rowland) Davis of Coupeville, Anna Privratsky of Spokane and Bobbi (Dwaine) Schettler of Spokane; and a special son, Kent (Jo) Mumma of Spokane; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Annabelle (Aksel) Schutter of San Francisco, CA and Agnes (Dick) Graves of Sacramento, CA; a brother, Ricard (Pat) Hansen of Chelan; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; and her parents.

Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday May 14, 2005, at the United Protestant Church in Mansfield with Pastor Ricard Bayless officiating. Inurnment to follow at the Mansfield Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Mansfield Ambulance Fund, Mansfield Dollars for Scholars, or to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Waterville Funeral Home.
