YAKIMA - Wanda Ward Cowdrey, 84, of Yakima, passed away on July 11, 2008. Wanda was born in 1923 to Wan and Jessie Ward in Greenriver, Utah. The family then came to Yakima in 1926. She married John Cowdrey in 1941 and he preceded her in death in 1991. Wanda and John were orchardists in Tieton for 50 years. Wanda worked at various fruit warehouses, including many years at Koble-Larson Fruit Company.

Wanda enjoyed raising her two children, caring for her dogs and spending time with her special groups of friends. She was an avid reader and loved to grow flowers. Wanda and her "Tieton" friends took many trips to Reno, which she enjoyed. She also enjoyed having lunches with her "school" friends.

Wanda is survived by her son, Ken Cowdrey and his wife Delaine of Naches; daughter, Kelly Foster and her fiance, Michael Luque of Olympia; two grandchildren, Chad Cowdrey of Yakima and Kendall Cowdrey of Boise; two brothers and their wives, Bob and Donna Ward of Yakima and Keith and Carolyn of Grandview; also numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant brother Ronald, and her sister, Norma Schmidt.

The family would like to thank Yakima Valley Memorial Hospice and Dr. Albert Brady and his staff. Also, special thanks to Elaine for being such a good neighbor and friend.

At Wanda's request there will be no services. Private interment will be at Tahoma Cemetery in Yakima.
