Stephen was the son of Stephen E & Cyrene Howe Bartlett. He married Josephine Regina Myers, who is buried next to him.
Stephen a member of the Odd Fellows, was fire chief of Hose 9 (in Irish Acre), brother Edwin was Captain of Engine 5. Death certificate states death from anaemia, but oral history states he died of locomotor ataxia. The year before his death he suffered injuries in a terrible warehouse fire, was encouraged to retire, but insisted on continuing work. Perhaps anemia is only one of the ailments that killed him.
