MARIETTA -- Services for Arthula "Artie" Christine Bell, 85, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Marietta First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ronnie Harris officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.
Born to John Edward and Mary Shelby McDaniels Thurman on June 21, 1920, in Woodbine, Texas, Mrs. Bell died on Sunday, Oct. 16, 2005, at a Denton, Texas, healthcare facility. She lived in Marietta 25 years before moving to Gainesville, Texas, six years ago.

She and Ralph A. Bell were married on Aug. 4, 1941, in Marietta. He preceded her in death on Jan. 17, 1996. She was also preceded in death by six sisters and seven brothers.

A graduate of Enville High School, Mrs. Bell was a homemaker and worked as a dietary aide at the Love County Health Center. She was a Methodist.

Survivors include a son, Ralph E. "Buzz" Bell, Gainesville, a daughter, Sandra K. Sides, Aubrey, Texas; four grandchildren, Matt Sides, Chad Bell, Stacey Holland and Shelly Schon, and six great-grandchildren, Christopher, Blake and Jacob Holland, Stephanie Sides and Lanie Rae and Morgan Griffin.

Family members will serve as bearers.
