Death of Mrs. T.R. Swart.

Polo, Illinois. Huldah Sophia Stiles was born in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, Nov. 28, 1844, and was the daughter of E.D. and Edna Stiles. About the year 1860 she accompanied her parents to Lee county (sic) near Dixon, Illinois, where they settled on a farm. Feb. 28, 1861, she was united in marriage to Tunis Richard Swart in Polo, Illinois. To this union twelve children were born, ten of whom preceded their mother to the grave. They all died before reaching maturity but Mary Edna, who died nine years ago, aged 33 years. The two surviving children are: Gilbert Lewis Swart, of Eagle Point, and Blanch Sybil, wife of George Morrow, of Mt. Carroll.

The deceased was a good christian (sic) woman, beloved by her family and friends. Many years ago she was converted and united with the Brethren church (sic). She had not enjoyed the best of health for a number of years, but during the past winter she became quite feeble and had a severe attack of the lagrippe which developed into typhoid fever and for the past four weeks she had suffered much. She realized that she could not recover and expressed herself as ready to go to her heavenly home.

At fifteen minutes past four, Tuesday afternoon, April 12, 1904, at her home in Polo surrounded by those who were near and dear to her she peacefully passed away, aged 60 years, 5 months and 14 days. Besides her bereaved husband and two children she leaves four grandchildren, a son-in-law, Geo. Morrow, and a daughter-in-law, Mrs. G.L. Swart, and her aunt, Mrs. Hannah Stiles, and her two children, Miss Sybil and Edward Stiles, of Chicago. She had but one brother, Lewis Stiles, who is now dead.

The funeral services will be held from the Old Town Methodist church, (sic) Thursday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. Rev. Phillips of the United Brethren church (sic) officiating. the interment will be made in the Old Town cemetery (sic).
