Mary and John went to housekeeping in her home near New Market & later moved to Almo & then in 1903 moved South & West of Yountsville, Ind. & lived there until their death.
Mary was blind 14 years before her death. When a young girl she attended "Singing School" which was held near her home, They called it the "Big Rock" meeting house. They wore their Sun-Bonnets & went bare foot. Their minster was Jonathan VanCleave, he was a Hard-Shell Baptist. John also attened these meetings & attended school at Bunker Hill School & Church at a church on what they calld the Lost 40. Located south of their home.
