Willie was from Russia and was a very religious man. He was truly a religious scholar. He spoke 7 languages but only had menial labor work during his life. He would go to shul twice each day and son Yonny would accompany him as he got older. The shul did not have indoor plumbing so those needing to use the facilities would have to endure the horrible oder from the 2-hole outhouse.

He was distrustful of most people and even kept a toy water pistol in the house and would take it to the door (if he chose to answer it) as a precaution. He did not trust his neighbors and would write private notes, that if found by police (should it ever be necessary) would prove his written accusations about the neighbors.

Willie's son Yonny told of the story of fish purchased at the local market with which to make gefilte fish. The fish would be purchased alive and they would keep it alive in a bathtub of water and it would swim around for a day or so until Sarah would kill and prepare the fish for home made gefilte fish. The fish would be either whitefish, carp, or pike.

William Pepper was married to Sarah Weinreich (1907-1957) (M: 6-2-1923).

Inscription:
A faithful man and revered G-d reb Yitzchak Ze'ev ben reb Baruch Yosef died 5 Nisan 5733

Children:
Ruchel Leisenring (1926-2007) and Albert Eli "Yonny" Pepper
