My Great (x4) Grandfather. Settled on what became Fords Prairie on the banks of the Chehalis River on May 25, 1846. Indian Agent, Justice of the Peace, clerk of the Lewis County Court, Territorial Legislator, Lt. Col. in the Territorial Militia.

OBIT:

The numerous friends of Hon. Sidney S. Ford will be grieved to learn of his death on Monday morning last, the 22nd, after an illness of several months. The Judge was one of our oldest residents, having settled in Lewis County over nineteen years ago. His many sterling virtues had endeared him to a large circle of relatives and friends.

The Washington Standard, October 27, 1866

His Middle Name: I have seen many internet family trees listing a middle name "Smith" but to date I have not seen a true source document confirming that. All documents I have seen only list the middle initial "S." So to avoid perpetuating possible rumor and speculation, for now I'm leaving the middle initial as "S." I know that the book "Centralia-The First Fifty Years," uses "Smith" but that book is a collection of anecdotal information and in addition to some great stories, it also has errors, misspellings, and other issues you would expect to find in a student-produced publication. If you find an actual source document (e.g. a will, family bible, government document) listing "Smith" I would love to see it. Thank you.
