WICHITA -- Lovena Hittle, 101, of Wichita died Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at Wichita Presbyterian Manor.

She was born on June 27, 1907, in Altamont to Cleve and Alta (Bringle) Taylor. She graduated from Labette County High School.

On July 21, 1928, she married Lester Hittle in Oswego. He preceded her in death on Sept. 23, 1964.

She retired as a grade school teacher after 33 years of dedication to her students.

She was a member of Edna United Methodist Church. She also was a 50-year member of Order of the Eastern Star and a charter member of ADK Teacher Sorority, joining in 1951.

Survivors include her daughter, Marlene Stine and her husband, Dean, of Wichita; a grandson, Steve Stine and his wife, Terri, of San Antonio, Texas; a grandson-in-law, Pat O'Nelio of Wichita; and four great-grandchildren, Nick and Dommi O'Nelio and Shea and Taylor Stine.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; a son, Wayne Hittle; a daughter, Lois Price; two brothers, Eldon and Wayne Taylor; and a granddaughter, Marla O'Nelio.

The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Edna United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be in North Edna Cemetery in Edna.
