Ruchel was a stunning young women and was a part-time singer. She performed whenever possible. She married Burt Leisenring (1919-1991) in 1945. Ruchel was always politically active, writing letters and emails to politicians and local papers to voice her views. She did this up until her final few months. Her pet cockatiel "Baby" kept her company for many years. Ruchel was 80 years old when she died.

In 1989, Ruchel published a small recipe booklet of her favorite family recipes and holiday celebration memories. It is the entertaining and loving narrative of the booklet that makes it special. Ruchel had a way with words.

Recipe Book Intro Page:
"As my contribution to the perpetuation of that warm and delicious part of our culture, and with happy memories of my mother and grandmother, I dedicate this book to my children. No recipe is included in this book that has not been made my the author. The beauty of this style of cooking is that the recipes lend themselves to individual tastes--add or delete ingredients to your preference. The author should point out that interpretations and methods of observing the holidays are unique to her own family as are the recipes.

Closing Recipe book random thoughts:
"You can't really enjoy the peaks unless you've been in the valley. Life is like a smorgasbord--it sets out everything for us to experience. Take a taste of whatever interests you. Don't glut. If you find something you like, go back and take another taste. Life is like writing an adventure story. There will be sad chapters, adverse adventures. Learn from these, grow from that learning, but don't dwell on them. Go on to the next chapter. You will find more happiness, excitement and fulfillment as you write your life adventure than you will find stumbles. If you're feeling down and chicken soup doesn't help, wallow in it, let it run its course and get it out of your system."

On August 2, 2017, a virtual stranger found a photo of Burt's wife Ruchel when she was 8-months old. The photo was found in a thrift shop in Boise, Idaho, a day after Ruchel's birthday. Coincidentally, husband Burt served on the USS Boise during World War II. There are no coicidences. Steve

The decedent was cremated. I do not know the whereabouts of the ashes. We can't be certain they were buried at Golden Hill. Through this posting, however, it is my hope that anyone searching for the decedent should be provided with a link or contact name from which other family information can be obtained. I would not want her death to go without mention. Her memory is special. Family and friends deserve to find out more about her and the family.
