Kenneth H. Dickinson PORT HURON Kenneth H. Dickinson, 80, of Port Huron, passed away on Monday, September 4, 2006 in Port Huron Hospital. He was born on November 14, 1925 in Applegate, son of the late Loyd and Jennie Dickinson. Kenneth married Helen L. Wilson on April 14, 1948 in Detroit. He served in the 99th Infantry Division during World War II serving in Belgium and Luxemburg. Ken took Diesel Engine and Car Mechanics through the G.I. Bill. He served his apprenticeship at Wilmot`s Garage in East Detroit. He moved to Port Huron in 1953. He then worked for W.T. Wilson, and Paul Williams Ford Dealership. Ken opened his own garage in 1957 on Stanton Street. He loved his work and had some of the finest customers who became his friends and still are. He retired due to a back injury in November 1987. He was Past Master of Fort Gratiot Lodge 374 F&AM. Ken bowled in earlier years. He was an avid hunter in the Applegate area. He was a knowledgeable Fisherman in Lake Huron and the St. Clair River. Ken had time to be a life time volunteer at the St. Clair County Farm Museum from 1969 to 1990. He loved the animals and enjoyed giving wagon rides, plus the many other events. He also worked with his wife at the Red Cross and also the March of Dimes on the Jail & Bail. He is a Member of Council on Aging (Senior Center) where he took piano lessons for two years. Ken enjoyed sharing his mechanical knowledge with the men at McKinch`s Garage. Enjoyed working on his 1939 Ford Mercury. He loved living in Port Huron. Ken is survived by his wife, Helen, married for 58 years; he was blessed with many loving nieces, nephews, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Doris Lindsey and Maxine Ferguson; and brothers, Donald and Amos Dickinson. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Jowett Funeral Home, 1634 Lapeer Ave. at 17th Street. Pastor Larry Brown, pastor of Church of Christ will officiate. Cremation will follow services. Visiting hours will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial tributes may be made to March of Dimes; Port Huron Senior Center; Masonic Lodge 374 F&AM or to a charity of the donors choice.
