Mrs. Hawkins was born on December 16, 1919 in Alamance County to the late Lon Hanford and the late Lora Mebane Hanford. She retired from Carolina Hosiery Mill after many years service.
Mrs. Hawkins is survived by two daughters, Alanda Hawkins Jones and her husband, Max, of Elon and Lora Hawkins of Burlington; a son, Roger Lynn Hawkins and his wife, Pauline, of Whitsett; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and a sister, Frances "Tillie" Layne of Burlington. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Michael Hawkins and Phillip Hawkins; a grandson, Jason Jones; two sisters, Louise Hanford Oakley and Mabel Hanford Rippy; four brothers, Mark Hanford, Mebane "Mutt" Hanford, Marvin Hanford and Harold Hanford; and her former husband, Albert Hawkins.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 19, 2008 at Pine Hill Cemetery by the Rev. Mike Hooper.
